STERLING SILBER 925/1000
Silver has fascinated pepole for many thousand years. In modern spectacle production, this precious metal is hardly used although silver does not corrode and does not cause any allergies. Silver does not have the elasticity which is necessary for high quality frames. One of the few real silver collections worldwide.
<
Inspired by ancient masters
Producing glasses once was craftwork, spectacle makers were respected by aristocrats, scholars and churchmen. At the time, glasses were something special and privilege of the upper class. Gernot Lindner acquired knowledge about the history of glasses for decades by collecting historic eyeglasses. Quite a few secrets of the ancient masters revive in the designer's collections.
Manual quality control
All GERNOT LINDNER Silver Eyewear© parts produced at manufactory MIBA Eyewear pass dozens of hands. Screwing, soldering and finally bending the frame into shape - everything is done by hand. The quality of every part is checked with every single work step. After having passed the final quality control, the frame will be shipped to opticians and finally arrives at the consumers.
Silver trade secret
It had to be Sterling Silver! There are three reasons for this. First: this procious metal does not corrode Second: it does not cause any allergies Third: eyewear made of Sterling Silver is extremely rare. One reason for that is the fact that this precious metal in its original form is very inflexible and too inelastic for eyewear. Company MIBA Eyewear experimented for a long time and finally found a way to give Sterling Silver flexible elasticity... How? This is of course top secret.
Over 120 tools for the collection
The brothers Ralf and Manuel Mitterbauer managed to win Gernot Lindner, a worldwide renowned designer who has been their father's companion for many years. Gernot Lindner has been one of the first clients who asked Helmut Mitterbauer to produce worldwide required frames. Now, Gernot created an own collection for the Bavarian manufactury MIBA Eyewear. Over 120 specific tools had to be produced for the GERNOT LINDNER Silver Eyewear© collection. With this technical expertise it is possible to convert individual design requirements from Gernot Lindner - in the end, the consumer gains a profit because he/she receives elegant glasses made of fine material with highest wearing comfort - never off the peg but "handmade in Germany".
The last spectacle makers
there are only few manufactories which produce eyeglass frames like company MIBA Eyewear in Bavarian Thyrnau. Most of the frames worldwide are produced in China - even those of many well-known eyewear brands. The toolmaker Helmut Mitterbauer founded his company in 1992. His sons Ralf and Manuel follow in his footsteps by founding company MIBA Eyewear and the GERNOT LINDNER Silver Eyewear© collection.
